Mini Cree LED Flashlight Torch
The FordEx Group has been responsible for the designing and development of quite a few popular flashlight models in recent years. One of their top sellers (currently 4,700+ reviews with 4.3 starts on Amazon) is the Mini Cree LED flashlight. This particular model comes with a wide range of features and benefits that make it a solid deal for the average consumer.[easyazon_cta add_to_cart=”default” align=”none” asin=”B006E0QAFY” cloaking=”default” height=”28″ key=”wide-orange” localization=”default” locale=”US” nofollow=”default” new_window=”default” tag=”bestflashhq-20″ width=”176″]

The Mini Cree LED flashlight has three modes, low, high and strobe turned on/off with a regular clicky tail. A feature I found a little strange is that the light will turn on by going to the next mode. So if you turn the light off in the high mode, next time you turn it on it will be in strobe. Not a deal breaker but it’s unpredictable what mode you will get sometimes.
One of the biggest highlights of the Mini Cree LED flashlight is that it has an adjustable focus. There are many different brands that simply do not provide this type of flexibility and versatility within their design. However, this Mini Cree LED flashlight does just that. The actual head of the light can be pushed or pulled directly out in order to further focus the actual beam itself. The lens of this light is some kind of plastic. At least it’s a somewhat recessed into the bezel to prevent being scratched too much.
Another great feature of this Mini Cree LED flashlight is the fact that it comes with a tough casing that is waterproof and skid-proof as well. Even though this doesn’t necessarily mean that you want to go ahead and toss the flashlight around just to see what would happen, the Mini Cree LED flashlight torch is still one of the most top-rated models available on the market because of the value.
This is where things get tricky. It is rated at 300 lumens max but I can tell you for sure that it’s nowhere near that bright, maybe 75 lumens. It’s probably closer to the middle setting of a Fenix E12 which is 50 lumens. This is exactly why the ANSI FL1 was created, to prevent companies from making false claims. It’s nice that the beam is adjustable but when focused to the narrow beam the pattern is a weird square pattern instead of the normal round spot.
The body is made out of aluminum but it seems to be die casted instead of CNC cut like the top manufacturers such as Surefire, Streamlight or Fenix. There are grooves cut all over the body to help you get a grip but the knurling feels smooth and not grippy like a Surefire. However, you can’t complain too much about a $3 flashlight.
You aren’t going to mistaken this light for a Surefire. Sure it’s got some nice features but I wouldn’t trust my life with this flashlight. I bought two of these lights and one of them had a defective tail switch. Here’s some good advice, if you are going to buy this light get more than one. It will cost you more to ship a $3 flashlight back to China for an exchange. Heck, buy 5 of them and stash them around your house, in your car, in your toolbox or give them away.
The Bottom Line
The bottom line of the Mini Cree LED flashlight is that it offers a wide range of advantages and features that’s hard to beat in it’s pricerange. It is a fraction of the cost of many other flashlights in its with similar features. If you are searching for a feature packed flashlight without the feature packed price, then the Mini Cree LED flashlight is a great choice.[easyazon_cta add_to_cart=”default” align=”left” asin=”B006E0QAFY” cloaking=”default” height=”28″ key=”wide-orange” localization=”default” locale=”US” nofollow=”default” new_window=”default” tag=”bestflashhq-20″ width=”176″]
