Summary : Good range of outputs, small, tough and uses a single AA battery. One of the best EDC flashlights available
Fenix E12 High Performance LED Flashlight
Fenix has been able to deliver an impressive line of high-quality LED flashlights over the years that come in a wide variety of sizes, styles and designs. One of their most popular models, the Fenix E12 LED flashlight, has proven since its initial release that it can stand strong and remain competitive against the best of them all. A series of highlights and features programmed and implemented into its design clearly prove that to be true. E12 Build quality
Like all Fenix flashlights the build quality is top notch. To change the battery, twist off the head and put the AA negative side in. At 3.5 inches tall, it’s a bit longer than the battery but that’s because of the tail switch and it’s spring loaded to give it the 1m impact resistance. I have small hands but it fits easily in my palm. The bottom of the light has two fins that protrude over the tail button to give it the ability to stand up on it’s tail. A nice feature to have, on the medium and high modes it can easily light up a room.

Maximum Power, Minimum Number of Batteries
One of the most annoying parts about owning a high-powered flashlight is having to continuously replace expensive CR123A batteries whenever they burn out. The development team working behind the scenes at Fenix clearly noticed that and wanted to fix that. This is why the Fenix E12 is a high-performance model that is capable of reaching a 130 maximum lumen output with just one common AA battery.
The Beauty of a Broad, Quality Beam Lens
Another advantage of the Fenix E12 LED flashlight is the fact that it comes with a broad, high-quality beam lens. The beam is a perfect blend of a bright center with a nice even side spill light that’s very useful. It can deliver an evenly distributed yet soft beam that is the best output whenever you need some sort of close-up illumination.
A Variety of Output Modes
The Fenix E12 LED flashlight has been designed to provide consumers access to a wide variety of output modes as well. How so? Fenix developed this high-performance flashlight with three lumen output and capabilities that can be used on low, mid and high output levels. For instance, it is capable of outputting 130 lumens for nearly 1 ½ hours, but can last with an eight-lumen output for over 40 hours.
One of my favorite things about the Fenix E12 flashlight is a tail switch. Most high-powered flashlights powered by a single AA battery is twist on/off. You click the button to turn it on and tap to cycle through the three modes. The default output is always low.
The Bottom Line
At about $27 the Fenix E12 is one of my favorite EDC flashlights. It’s small enough to carry on keychain or slip in my pocket. The 8, 50 and 130 lumen output levels are highly adaptable to any situation. Fenix has once again knocked it out of the park with this tiny powerhouse.[easyazon_cta add_to_cart=”default” align=”left” asin=”B00I9W7MRK” cloaking=”default” height=”28″ key=”wide-orange” localization=”default” locale=”US” nofollow=”default” new_window=”default” tag=”bestflashhq-20″ width=”176″]
